Dr. Adam Powell helps payer-based and state-based exchanges simplify the process through which individuals select their health plans. Given the wide number of options and variables, the task that individuals face can be daunting. Using principles from behavioral economics, Dr. Powell creates systems to guide potential plan members through the selection process.

There are a number of plan selection decision support systems currently in use. During an engagement, Dr. Powell familiarizes clients with the market’s current decision support offerings and the theory that drives the structure of those offerings. After reviewing a payer’s needs and product designs, Dr. Powell creates a series of simple questions that can be used to guide prospective members to the health plans that will best meet their needs.
